"Paying to Get Top Google Ranking"

Google is a phenomenon. It's truly amazing. It's shot from zero to one of the most profitable businesses in the world in just 7 years.

That's because almost everyone online has heard of Google and most people using a search engine uses Google.

To 'Google' something has become a common expression and has entered the English language, synonymous with researching something.

So, it makes sense to get your website found on Google doesn't it?

Basically there's 2 ways to get found on Google. The long haul way is to get natural traffic - i.e. traffic coming from Google searches that don't require payment. This is a great way of getting business but it ain't instant!

The fastest way is to pay for an ad to appear on Google. It called Adwords and the reason Google is worth silly money is because people will collectively pay an awful lot of money for their website to be listed at the top.

The sexy thing about Google Adwords is that to get your site listed at the top of the ads(You can tell the ads because they're slightly differently coloured, usually appear at the side of the results page or at the very top) is a cross between an auction and a popularity contest.

This means that the more you pay the higher up you get listed and the more popular your ad is, the higher up you get listed as well.

This is a subtle but extremely powerful way of ensuring that decent, relevant adverts are
listed and crappy unrelieved ads are penalised by having to pay more. In fact, if you think about it, the main differentiating factor(well at least initially, before everyone copied them) that Google used to supply results was how many people link to a particular site, giving the Page-Rank. Thus, the more popular the site was - the more it was listed in relevant searches.

So, in a similar fashion - the more popular a Google advert is - the higher up the paid ranking it goes. Like I said, powerful stuff!

Another very neat thing about Google Adwords is that you only pay for adverts that are clicked on. The Ad may appear a million times but if no-one clicks on it to visit your website - you don't pay a penny. This is revolutionary stuff in advertising.

Now I don't want to get too bogged down in the details here as this is a subject I intend to come back to again and again, suffice to say that if you haven't tried it then you should.

Here's a few good reasons why:

  1. Most people use Google - so you've got the widest audience.
  2. You can get top ranking in Google - instantly!
  3. Google only charge you for the traffic you get.
  4. It's off and on-able! I.e. You can control your ad very easily.
  5. You can restrict the ads to only appear in your town, area, country etc.
  6. You can test and measure your website with laser precision
  7. You can see which key phrases your target audience are typing in so you can search engine optimise your site for natural traffic accordingly
  8. Your competition will probably be using ut - so it pays to get good at this.(It pays a lot more to get great at it)
  9. A small budget can still produce great results
  10. It's very quick and easy.
You don't have to be a propeller head to set it up in less than 15 mins.

In fact, there's loads of benefits of using Google Pay Per Click but my advice to anyone who is not using it is try it and furthermore anyone who has tried it and given up :
learn how to master it. It's possible to to turn an unprofitable ad into a very profitable one just by tweaking a few things and multiplying your income several fold.

I'm not exaggerating when I say several fold.

There are some serious players out there that know loads more about pay per click than I do(Chris Cardell and Perry Marshall to name a couple) yet even they will admit that they're always learning more - especially as Google is always adding more cool features.

I'll be offering more specific advice shortly. Hope this has prompted you to take action!
