1. Traffic Generation Tips
Search Engine Marketing - Other Linking Strategies

"Checking where your competitors’ links are coming from can really help when trying to establish quickly who to link to".

To check who is linking to your high ranking competitors you can carry out the following steps. This method takes a long time but can be well worth the effort.

STEP 1) Go to Google and search for one of your keywords.

STEP 2) Make a note of the top 5 competitors who appear (write down their Domain name).

STEP 3) Return to Google and search for the first domain name in the list (i.e. Type www.competitorsdomainname.com in the search field).

STEP 4) Google will then display a screen which says, Google can show you the Following information for this URL: At the bottom of the list of option is Find web pages that contain the term "www.competitorsdomainname.com". Click on this option.

STEP 5) Google will display all the pages it can find that link to your competitor’s Website. (TIP: If there are many results, bookmark the search results page as this process will take a long time – possibly months.)

STEP 6) Visit each page (TIP: Right click on the first result and select open in New Window. (By opening a separate window to see the page, you won’t lose your search results page.)

STEP 7) Try to think of a way to get a link to your website on the same page (TIP: Avoid sending them an email as webmaster receive a lot of SPAM and your email will likely go unnoticed. Try calling them instead.)

STEP 8) Repeat for each of your top 5 ranking competitors.

Note: In the list of results, the sites which appear higher up are likely to have a better Google Page rank (download free tool bar here) than with sites which appear toward the end of the list. You should focus on obtaining links with sites with a high Google Page Ranking (assuming they are relevant).

Here’s why.

For the majority of sites the sales copy is going to be the most important element of the sales process. It will be the star attraction of your homepage: that crucial communication that replaces one –on-one interaction with you potential customers.

Your sales copy is your best salesperson-and in most cases, it’s your ONLY salesperson when you’re running an online business.

The fact is that no matter how glitzy and glamorous your site, or how funky and attractive your graphics, you won’t sell very much or create enquiries at all without good copy. Even if you have the greatest product or service on earth, your visitors will never know it unless you can present them with an offer using compelling, credible sales copy…. Only then can they be convinced of the value of your products or service!

It is crucial to the success of your business that you avoid the regrettably common mistake of simply slapping up carelessly thought out ramblings…boring statistics…unrelated information…..or nothing at all…. And then wonder why your website results are so poor.

Spinning graphics and cool logos ultimately will not sell your products or services. Your sales copy will. Well–written, compelling sales copy is truly one of the most important factors in determining the success or failure of your website.

Of course the added benefit of sales copy with relevant and effective use of your keywords is to increase the likely hood of the search engine ranking your site higher and helping increase the potential traffic.
