Why Bother With Video Marketing?

Because it increases your traffic, conversion and retention, that's why!

Sheer Market Size.
Looking at the traffic alone, it opens a whole new world to you. At the time of writing, there are 2 BILLION videos being watched EVERY DAY.

There's 1.5 Billion PC's worldwide and nearly 5 BILLION mobile phone users. That's a BIG market! As you'll know, mobile marketing is really taking off now due to the huge adoption of smart devices like Iphones.

The average user watches nearly 200 Videos per month.

According to a recent survey by Forrester, having an online video presence means you're 53 Times more likely to be found on Google. Of course, these figures could be distorted because the people that post video are the winners that get more traffic anyway. But still, that a hell of a statistic.

Of course, lot of people FORGET that YouTube(by far the largest video site) is owned by Google and it is basically a powerful search engine that generates a LOT of traffic.

Super Fast SEO.
Video clips posted onto YouTube can often appear within the natural search engine rankings within minutes. I know of some appearing within 5 minutes of being posted!

Leveraging Your Content.
Once you have made an online video you of course get the exposure to it from places like YouTube. And within YouTube people can leave feedback, link to it, ask questions and basically become involved with not only that particular video but also your YouTube Channel as a whole.

I'll be looking more at getting exposure for your video in a coming issue but for now you should know that whilst YouTube is the currently Big Daddy of all this, it's easy to forget that there are lots of other sites you can and should syndicate your content too as well.

Firstly, There's all the video sites. Google a recent list - it's getting longer all the time with more and more specialist sites appearing.

Then there's all the news sites and article sites.

Then there's your own social Media sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, Twitter and the rest.

For extra leverage, you can take out just the AUDIO from your content and enable people to get it on CD or as a download. A lot of people listen to my stuff in their car while driving to work for example. People could listen to your content on their Ipod whilst jogging round the park.

Not only that, there are podcast directories as well, just the same as there are article directories and video sites.

Lastly, you can of course get the video transcribed so you have the text content, which means that once again, you can add all the text onto your website or blog or emails AND you can syndicate it to the various article sites and news sites for better SEO effect. All of this from one video than can be made in less than an hour.

Massively Increasing Engagement.
One of the basic metrics used in determining the effectiveness of a website is called the Time On Site. It's included free as part of Google Analytics. The Time on Site in seconds will go through the roof when you add videos and this in turns means that people are more ENGAGED when they are on your site. More engagement means more business for you.

Attract Different TYPES OF People.
There are different modalities of people. Some people like to read information (Visual). Some people like to watch(Visual & Audio). Some people like to listen(Audio). Some people like to participate(Kinesthetic). We all have a preference, to some degree.

By offering the same message but by different media, you will engage more of your existing visitors and leads clients, effectively increasing your visitor to sales conversion rate.

Video isn't restricted to just websites of course. You can post videos on DVD to people and you can embed video into emails and even documents like PDF's - a really good way to make your information stand out.

There's no business like Show Business.
If you have something that just needs to be SEEN to be believed, then of course video isn't optional - it's essential. When selling certain products e.g. toys, there's just no comparison to actually seeing a boomerang being thrown or a helicopter being flown.

Demonstrations are now available instantly to people that sell products. However, it's not limited to products. Service companies can now use online video to demonstrate as well. For example, a specialist cleaning company can show off the quality of their work or their specialist services cleaning high up places.

All companies can benefit from putting a sales presentation together which people can watch. Remember, people buy from people. And your personal branding is all part of the mix that people respond to.

Time & Cost.
As always, you can spend as much time and money as you want.

However - and you don't have to agree with me here but I think that lots of good content that's actually out there and WORKING for you, is better than little or no content that is technically perfect.

You can buy all the basic equipment and software for less than a couple of hundred quid and a 10 minute video can be filmed, edited and posted with all the benefits I'm covering here in less than an hour.

There isn't enough time in the day to explain all the marketing reasons why online video is good for business but hopefully these few ones here will convince you it's a good idea to use it.
