Google PageRank ...Revealed!

"Maximise Your Internet Marketing with MKLINK Internet Marketing Tips"

What is PageRank?
PageRank is actually a name used to describe the technology which was developed by Google’s founders to give some indication of a web site’s ‘importance’.

The scale on which this importance is measured is a number from 0 to 10
(unless a site is ‘not ranked’), with 10 being the highest figure.

In reality, you'll doing very well to have a Page Rank of 5 and above, and you're unlikely to achieve 8 or above. (But hey - go for gold!)

Complicated-looking equations and formulas actually work out the numerative rank. For example, the equation responsible for calculating an individual web page’s PageRank is most likely to be variable of the one shown below:

PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + ... + PR(tn)/C(tn))

Um, Yeah, right! Anyway, back to english...

As a guide, a website has a maximum number of PageRank.
This is distributed between the pages of the site by links.

As a guide the following factors should be considered:

  • The PageRank number can be increased by inbound links from other websites, and decreased by outbound links.
  • The PageRank of a page is also affected by the PageRank of the pages pointing to it. An inbound link is. like a ‘vote’ of confidence for the site.
  • Adding new pages to your website can increase the site’s PageRank.

THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT OF ALL:

PageRank is only part of the story.
How well your website performs in Google depends on a number and combination of variables.

As well as importance, Google is interested in relevance:

• Relevancy of page content and the content of the pages linking to that page.
n.b. the Page Rank of the pages linking into to your pages is also taken into account.

• The relevancy of keywords used within your website (particularly in titles and headlines), and the keywords used by other sites to link to your site.

You can see website PageRanks displayed if you download the Google Toolbar (http://toolbar.google.com/), although the PageRank displayed is not always ‘accurate’.

The maximum PageRank of pages is changed monthly with Google’s re-indexing of links.
Mine has come down recently :-(

A link to a site map from each page can increase the number of internal links in your site, which will be beneficial, and by simply making your page content as interesting and useful as possible, you will naturally attract links to your website

– PageRank is important but "content is king"
