“How to increase the traffic to your site from 50% to 100% and more, without paying for it”

(Continuing from the last issue where we looked at why you should consider an Affiliate Marketing Programme.)
In this issue, lets look at the various types of programmes out there ...

“Various types of Affiliate Programmes, one tier or two?”

This is an option you will need to consider when starting your own affiliate programme. Simply put, will you just pay an affiliate for the sales they bring or expand it and your potential by rewarding them with a small commission for recruiting others? (called a 'sub affiliate')

More and more of the affiliate programmes out there are now using a 2 tier system as they can grow their affiliate network much faster by incentivising existing successful affiliates to recruit others. I suggest that whatever you decide at this stage... any software you buy has the ability to track 2 tier commissions which will then give you maximum flexibility if you decide start on a 1 tier system and expand it later.

“Other types of affiliate programme”

Pay-per-sale: This is the the most popular type of programme, the reason being that you only pay when a sale is made (normally on a percentage). This is the only model that guarantees you will profit because you’re paying ONLY when you make money. However, there are two other options you may want to consider depending on your business model.

Pay-per-Lead: This works well if your business has a longer sales process i.e. Home improvements, property sales, service industries etc.
With these programmes you pay an agreed amount for a “qualified Lead” that your affiliate sends you, based on your criteria for a qualified lead.

This can work very well if you know what your average conversion from Lead to Sale and of course the average order value. (We have a number of our own sites that generate good income doing this)

Pay-per-Click: No one can deny the success Google have had with this particular model in fact they generate over $4 Billion a year from 280,000 advertisers doing just this with amounts per click ranging from .01 cents to a maximum of $100 dollars!

What you could do here is pay sites for linking to you on a fixed per click basis. This actually benefits you in a number of ways. Not only do you get highly qualified traffic because you will only agree to allow links from relevant sites AND the search engines will improve your ranking based on the increase of incoming links.

A word of warning however. I only suggest you look at this programme based on your site being able to effectively convert clicks to customers or subscribers.

“3 Tips on Creating Visitor Momentum”

1. Tell your visitors what they’re going to get, not what you get if they click on a link.

Rather than tell your prospect to “subscribe here” or “register now” try changing the link to read “read the e-book” “download your tips”.
By doing this you make the link far more compelling and less of a risk of them wasting their time by clicking on the link.

2. Stop pre-checking checkboxes.

If you pre-check the box for your visitor you are really forcing the prospect to opt-out
Why? Because psychologically you’ve put them in a “no” mind set however if you leave it blank and let them take positive action this become a major buying signal and signifies commitment. By getting your prospect into a “yes” mindset you are far more likely to to have them buy from you.

3. Don’t forget to reiterate your unique selling proposition or offer on the order or registration page.

When reaching your order or lead generation page, not everyone is 100% committed to completing it.
Don’t run the risk of having them click away at this stage, remind them of why they got there!
• Remind them of the offer and what they will receive at the top of the page.
• Make sure your very first sentence starts with a checkbox with the word “yes” next to it.
• Put a check box next to every “I want to receive…….” And put a border around this statement too.

Each time they reread the benefit or the check box, they’ve committed themselves even more to the task of filling out the form and pressing submit.
