Content
The content of your website is probably the most important part of
it!
THE WHOLE POINT of people visiting your website, is to give them sufficient
information to enable them to make a decision about your business –
and then hopefully take some action in some way.
Research shows that almost all visitors to websites are looking for
information – rather than to buy something directly.
Therefore, if your website is nothing more than a blatant ‘ad’
which tells your visitors how great you are, or what products you sell
and at what price – they will probably go elsewhere – and
may not even find your website in the first place(I shall explain this
below).
Add as much content as you possibly can about your products and services.
You cannot have too much information – just be too BORING! That’s
not to say that all the information has to cloud the website –
you can offer the ability for visitors to ‘DRILL DOWN’.
For example – you may have a list of products with titles and
prices – with a ‘More Info’ button next to each of
them.
In addition – search engines love(text) content. Remember –
they cannot ‘see’ images like humans can. They can trawl
through the site for relevant text however and so a website that has
lots of relevant text content will score much more highly than one that
is less verbose.
Lastly – it is usually a good idea to update the content of a
website. It provides another reason for your visitors to return and
suggests to search engines(which can trawl the site regularly) that
the information is up-to-date and therefore you can get better rankings.
The benefits of ‘Content Development’ include:
• Increased Page-Rank. Search engines love websites that have
lots of relevant text content.
• More Inbound Links. You will find that other website owner will
be a lot more inclined to link to your website if it has content that
will be useful to their customers.
• Increased Customer Satisfaction! You are giving your customers
what they wanted in the first place – INFORMATION!
